Burger Shack remain one of the most dominant teams in local coed flag football.
The burger cookers have won three championships in the last four years and sit 5-0 in the A division of the Burger King Coed League, put on by the Cayman Islands Flag Football Association. Their latest win was a 27-6 victory over Impressions Beauty Salon last Friday at the Ed Bush field in West Bay.
Barrett Edri threw three touchdowns for the winners, with Chris Bennett nabbing three TD catches. Terry Ballard had a TD pass, Will Peguero Jr. registered a TD reception and Perry Levy had an interception. After the loss, Chris Lucas and the Impressions crew are 4-1, good enough for third in the top flight.
Two other squads join Burger Shack in the unbeaten ranks. Andro Elevator are also 5-0 in the A division after defeating 0-5 Go Flag Yourself, 27-12. Brendon and Lisa Malice each had a TD pass for Andro while Alicia Dixon, Jamuel Dell and Nicholas Roberts each scored a TD. For the winners, Brad Conolly had two TD passes to RaShaun Wright.
In other action, 2-3 Cronies beat 1-4 CrossFit 7Mile, 49-12, as Cueme Parker and Jordana Clarke combined to throw five TDs. Walkers, 0-1-4, drew with 1-1-3 KPMG, 20-20, behind quarterback Ellen Downey. Burger King improved to 2-3 with a thrilling 18-7 victory over 1-4 Kirk Freeport. The losing team had the lead with a minute left before Burger King hero Gary Rutty intercepted a lateral pitch intended for the running back that resulted in the game-winning TD.
