Teen remanded for street robbery

Alvin Shaquille Ebanks, 17, appeared in Summary Court on Wednesday afternoon charged with a robbery that occurred two days earlier.

Ebanks, who turned 17 last month, is of a George Town address.

Details of the charge are that he stole a bag from a named person at West Bay Road on April 21 and used force on the victim.

The bag contained a wallet with cash in excess of US$170 and CI$16, plus credit cards, bank cards, insurance card and driver’s license. The bag also contained a phone charger, flashlight and miscellaneous personal property.

Robbery is a charge that can be dealt with only in the Grand Court, so Magistrate Grace Donalds transmitted it to the higher court, where it will be mentioned again on May 2 at the request of defense attorney John Furniss. No application was made for bail and Ebanks was remanded in custody.
