You are never too old to learn something new. This was the advice given to seniors attending a Young at Heart workshop at the Bodden Town Civic Centre this week.
The event included praise, a day of activities with games, bingo, meeting friends, and getting tips on living healthily.
The seniors also took part in a water sports session hosted by Tom Watling and wife Lisha of Cayman Kayaks.
Natalee Jackson, a senior attending the event with husband Bolwin, said, “I think what the Children and Family Services is doing for the seniors is a good thing and the seniors are enjoying it. It is getting us out where we can socialize, meet other people and learn something new.”
Ms. Jackson encourages all seniors to attend upcoming Young at Heart sessions because they will gain a lot from it.
Delmira Bodden, officer at the Department of Children and Family services which organized the workshop, said, “The events in partnership with some churches are catered to providing wholesome activities for seniors all year round.
“The seniors are provided with structured activities such as outings, games, arts and craft praise and worship – they also get to meet friends and socialize.”
Every month, the Department of Children and Family Services invites seniors 60 years and older to take part.
