YMCA crew swings away

Some of the top squads in local coed softball will storm the diamond.

The 2014 Winter Adult Coed Softball League, put on by the Cayman Islands Little League Association, is wrapping up its second week of playoff action. The Field of Dreams hosts a triple-header on May 8 as Lone Star Master Batters challenge Home Gas Regulators at 6:30 p.m. on field four before YMCA We Got The Runs tackle Deloitte on field three and KPMG A battle Tower Titans on field four at 8:15 p.m.

Lone Star, behind the likes of Ryan Pull, finished fourth in the B League at 7-5. Home Gas, fifth at 7-5, suffered a 21-10 defeat to the Coors Light Chuggers in their first postseason contest last week. Coors Light, behind Mark Wallace, is the No. 2 seed in the group at 8-4.

YMCA, behind Jordan Stubblefield, were the regular season champions at 9-3 while Deloitte, featuring John Marrs, were eighth at 5-7. Deloitte are coming off a 18-17 victory over Donald Paddyfoot and the Delphi Geeks, the seventh seed at 5-7, in their playoff opener.

KPMG, 10-2, and Tower, 12-0, were the top sides in the A League. Both are coming off opening postseason victories as Doug Harrell and KPMG defeated Lori Moncrieffe and CNB 5-4, while Ryan Ebanks and Tower beat A.L. Thompson’s Hammers, 16-3. CNB are the third seed at 5-7 while Hammers are also fourth at 5-7.
