Green Light blinds
Encompass batters

The Pony division of local Little League has a tight race to the title.

The last unbeaten record fell with one game left in the regular season as second-place Greenlight Re edged out leaders Encompass, 9-7. Entering the final inning, league leaders Encompass had a one-run lead, but the first two Greenlight batters, Kaylee Ebanks and Jadon Jimenez, got on base and Neil McComb drove in a three-run homer. Earlier in the game, Jadon’s brother Lucas hit a home run.

Meanwhile, third-place Digicel kept up the pressure by beating CIBC-FCIB, 9-5. Toby Johns had an outstanding defensive game, while Reese Atterbury kept her team alive with two outs, setting up a game-winning grand slam from Charles Gilman.

In a thrilling end to the season, Digicel will take on leaders Encompass, while second place Greenlight Re will play KPMG. KPMG is coming off a 9-8 victory over Burger King. Any of the top three could still win the division. Encompass has seven wins, a draw and one loss and is just ahead of 7-2 Greenlight, 6-1-2 Digicel, 3-1-5 KPMG, 2-1-6 Burger King and 0-9 CIBC-FCIB.

The Pony division is one of many groups in action as the Cayman Islands Little League Association winds down its 25th season. Games take place at the Field of Dreams.
