The Executive Committee of the Cayman Islands Football Association presented awards to players, coaches and officials at their annual awards ceremony at the Marriott Grand Cayman Beach Resort last week.
The ceremony honored members of the football family who participate in the association’s 10 leagues for both men and women in all age categories.
Special recognition was given to Shanelle Frederick for her outstanding performance in the women’s league, having scored 52 goals over the past four years.
Premier League Player of the Year was Theron Wood of Bodden Town, who also won the Golden Boot for his 28 goals.
Bruce Blake, CIFA’s first vice president, commended the association on a successful season and noted that more games were played across all leagues this season than at any other time in the association’s history.
Blake also highlighted the association’s commitment to hosting international events and introduced the chairwoman of the upcoming CONCACAF Girls’ Under-15 Championship, Sharon Roulstone, and Cayman’s Girls’ Under-15 national team and management staff.
He praised outgoing staff, Damion Allen and Marcos Tinoco, who have helped the association enormously.
More than 450 players, officials and guests attended the event, including Minister of Sport Osbourne Bodden.
