Police investigate Friday night armed robbery

Royal Cayman Islands police are investigating an armed robbery that happened Friday night near Deckers Restaurant and Bar on West Bay Road.

Officers said a taxi driver reported that he was robbed by two men, one of whom was armed with a knife.

The driver told police he was dispatched to Deckers where he drove to the rear of the building and was approached by the two suspects. Police said the man entered the vehicle, demanded cash and forced the driver to take them to the Butterfield roundabout.

The driver suffered minor injuries during the incident, police said. The suspects stole an unidentified amount of cash and were last seen on Sound Way, George Town.

The suspects were described as having dark complexions, slim builds and wearing dark clothing. At the time of the robbery, their faces were covered, police said.
