RCIPS wants your feedback

The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service wants public feedback on how it’s doing and what residents would like to see from the service in the future.

RCIPS Chief Superintendent Kurt Walton announced this week that police have developed an online survey that will allow people an opportunity to give their views on the police service.

Police Commissioner David Baines added that responses to the survey will help determine how the police will allocate resources.

“They will be able to tell us what’s important to them and the areas of business they feel we need to improve upon,” Mr. Walton said. “The information we receive will be analyzed and taken into consideration when setting our future priorities.”

Anyone interested can access the 41-question survey through the government’s main website at www.gov.ky, or on the RCIPS web page www.rcips.ky, where it will be available for completion until Nov. 1.

The questionnaire focuses on community perceptions of neighborhood crime and policing. It also encourages the public to evaluate the quality of its interactions with members of the police service.

The police chose an electronic survey because it would be easier to find, complete and submit to the RCIPS.

“For those who want to complete the survey but don’t have direct access to the Internet, all Cayman Islands libraries offer free access to members,” Mr. Walton said. “Library membership is also free, but for non-card holders $1 will buy 30 minutes of Internet time, which is more than sufficient to complete all questions.”
