The Lions Club of Tropical Gardens stages the annual Brenda Tibbetts-Lund Memorial 5K walk/run over two days in Grand Cayman this weekend.
On Saturday, Oct. 11, it is in North Side from the Kaibo to LIME Exchange and back; the following day it is from the Holiday Inn Resort to the end of Safehaven Road and back. Both walks start at 6 a.m. and the runs start at 6:30 a.m.
Race Caribbean is administering the event and will time the runners electronically to increase accuracy and speed up the processing.
All runners in Sunday’s event must be registered by Friday because the race administrators need to have time to compile the data. Runners on Sunday are asked to collect their chips to attach to their shoe by 6:15 a.m. on-site. There will be a separate registration table.
Among the prizes for the walk/run on Sunday is a round-trip ticket to Tampa donated by Cayman Airways. Money raised from walk/run registrations, sponsorships and the sale of pink items is used to pay for mammograms.
Pre-registration is at Elizabethan Square during the week, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Online registration is on www.caymanactive.com.
