Seniors’ celebrations continue

More than 150 seniors turned out to the East End Civic Centre for Older Persons Month Eastern District Day last week.

The luncheon featured a lively praise and worship session, as well as performances by East End Primary School students, Nasaria Suckoo-Chollette and Randy Chollette, Carmen Conolly and Olive Miller.

Staff from the nearby Health City Cayman Islands hospital provided various health checks for seniors and East End MLA Arden McLean also stopped by.

The gathering was part of the Older Persons Month celebration. The next social event will be at the Aston Rutty Civic Centre in Cayman Brac on Oct. 22.

There will also be a folk song concert specially for elderly residents at the Harquail Theatre on Friday, Oct. 24.

Transportation is being arranged for older people who want to attend, as follows: In North Side, at 5:30 p.m., there will be pick ups across from North Side Gas Station, at Nell Whittaker’s residence, at Chisholm’s Supermarket and at Carolyn Carter’s residence; in Bodden Town, pick ups will be made at 6 p.m. at Webster Memorial Church, on Manse Road, on Northward Road and at the Savannah Seventh Day Adventist Church; in West Bay, the pick up will be at 6 p.m. at John Gray Memorial Church; and in George Town at 6:15 p.m. at the Family Life Centre. Residents of East End who need transportation to the concert should call Delmira Bodden at 925-5543
