Trial date set for resort burglary

Approximately $100,000 reported stolen

Brandon Reno Liberal pleaded not guilty in Grand Court on Friday to committing a burglary at the Treasure Island resort on June 6, 2012.

Justice Charles Quin set Aug. 31, 2015 as the start of what defense attorney John Furniss said would likely be a three-week trial.

Liberal, 27, is accused, with others unknown, of trespassing at Treasure Island and stealing a safe containing CI$75,104.24 and US$31,701.42.

The matter first came to Summary Court earlier this year. Liberal chose to be tried in the higher court. Mr. Furniss indicated the trial was likely to be by jury.
