Bowlers held the spotlight in the two matches organized by senior coach Pearson Best for the national team as they prepare for the International Cricket Council Americas region T20 tournament.
The tournament is at the Division Two level and is in Fort Lauderdale from Nov. 26 to Dec. 1.
In a wicket holding plenty moisture from heavy showers during the week, only Omar Willis 42, Conroy Wright 31 and Zachary McLaughlin 28 were able to come to grips with the conditions.
Two matches are scheduled for Sunday, and coach Best is looking for improved performances from the top batsmen.
It was a cool and refreshing Sunday evening as the Women’s T20 tournament began at Smith Road Oval.
Picking up where they left off, national players Wyvonne Forbes, Desrene Cox, Vanessa Cameron, Marcia Moiten and Sheila Rankine held the spotlight.
It began with an exciting match between Roses, led by Forbes and Orchids captained by Desrene Cox.
Batting first Orchids scored 95 for 5 with Cox hitting 35. Roses replied very strongly with Forbes scoring 49. Roses won by 8 wickets. Matches continue on Sundays.
