Supernovas silence Bud Light batters

The Intertrust Supernovas claimed glory on the diamond in dramatic fashion.

Intertrust defeated Bud Light, 12-11, in the C League championship game on Wednesday night. The Field of Dreams served as the venue for the match, which is part of the Cayman Islands Little League Association’s 2014 Fall Adult Coed Softball League. Down by four runs heading into the bottom of the seventh and final inning, Intertrust would rattle off five unanswered runs to claim bragging rights.

The Supernovas were in control throughout the early innings behind inspired pitching by Chuck Iroanyah, clutch fielding by Phillip Tatum Jr and exceptional hitting by David Hill. Bud Light would rally back to take the lead in the latter innings behind pitcher Kimberly Pitta-Thomas, captain Rohan Marshall and star slugger Kenneth Bryan.

With the win, Intertrust capped off a dominant season. The Supernovas were the regular season winners with a 9-3 record thanks to a potent offense that scored 205 runs (second-most in the entire league). In the playoffs, the side waltzed to the finals after clobbering the PwC Sluggers, 27-7, and the Walkers Warriors, 11-0. Bud Light were runners-up in the regular season at 5-5-2 and after losing their postseason opener to Walkers, 19-16, they would eliminate PwC, 17-8, and the Warriors, 19-18.

The Supernovas are the second overall league winners this year. The Tower Titans, who went unbeaten in the regular season at 12-0, won the A League championship by beating KPMG A in two games. The accountants won game one, 21-8, before Tower completed their repeat title with a 15-8 victory in game two.

The B League championship, between the Coors Light Chuggers and the Home Gas Regulators, took place on Thursday night.
