Cayman Athletic remain at the top of the Premier League, but having unexpectedly lost to Sunset over the weekend will not want to drop points again when they face Scholars International on Sunday.
James Kennedy (4th minute) and two Paul Hennessey strikes (11th and 72nd) earned Sunset their 3-1 win over Cayman Athletic, whose score came from an Ian Roberton own goal.
Cayman Brac’s improved form continued, drawing 2-2 with George Town. Tex Whitelocke (41st) and Kevin Moore (52nd) scored for George Town. Brac’s goals came from Stephen Tatum (56th penalty) and Brian Martin (65th).
Donald “Naddy” Solomon has been one of George Town’s most reliable defenders this season. But he is worried that George Town never seem to capitalize on the extra possession they usually enjoy and keep dropping points, as in this game. “We’ve got to sort this problem out,” he said. “It’s very frustrating.”
There was no score in the Scholars-Roma United game.
Bodden Town had just returned from a tournament in New Zealand and their match against Elite Sports Club was postponed. BT have a lot of catching up to do, but with the arduous New Zealand trip out of the way, they can now focus on climbing up the table. They play Brac away on Saturday.
After the 5 p.m. match at the TE McField Annex between Cayman Athletic and Scholars on Sunday, Roma face George Town.
At the Ed Bush field in West Bay on Sunday, Elite face Sunset at 7 p.m.
