The Tennis Federation of the Cayman Islands now has its own website which sets out the numerous activities that the organization is involved in.
“As you will see, the federation is involved in many aspects of tennis in the Cayman Islands, from teaching the sport in government schools and running national junior tournaments to distributing Wimbledon tickets,” said Eliza Harford, head of the TFCI.
“Broadly speaking, our objective is to promote tennis in the Cayman Islands. We are funded solely by generous local sponsors, namely Cayman National, PwC, KPMG and Walkers.
“Given our financial constraints, I don’t think we do too badly, though there is obviously more that could be done.”
There is a raft of talented youngsters in Cayman, the best of them being Daniel Reid. Some of kids are so young, they are not even in their teens yet, but have already performed exceptionally well domestically and in international tournaments.
The website’s creator and manager is IT specialist and TFCI vice-president Simon Gunn.
“The Internet is the No. 1 source for people looking for anything and everything at their convenience,” Gunn said.
“The TFCI website meets this ever-burgeoning demand for immediate information. We hope that, now the Cayman public is aware of its existence, they’ll take a look.”
