Youth Day event planned

Celebrate Our Youth Day has been scheduled for Jan. 31, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the John A. Cumber Primary School playing field.

Activities for all ages include sports demonstrations, youth performances, a fashion show, arts and crafts, a bouncing castle and games.

“The main objectives this year is to acknowledge community members that have contributed to the success of young people in the West Bay district and launch an asset mentor initiative, for which community members will be asked to pledge to become asset mentors,” said Sylvia Wilks. She is the director of the Cayman Islands Youth Development Consortium, which is organizing the event.

The day will also be used to encourage young people to get involved in the programs represented at the event. Young people and their parents will have an opportunity to pre-register for CIYDC’s Fearless Xtreme Leadership and Prevention camp.

Admission is free. Lunch and refreshments will be on sale.
