Kindness at Owen Roberts airport

I would like to thank the wonderful staff at George Town airport who were so helpful to us on our recent trip to Grand Cayman. We landed on Christmas Eve from Ireland and got a message to call home urgently. I rang while still in Immigration and got the sad news that my mother had passed away. My husband informed one of the airport officials of our news and my family and I were taken straight to the front of the queue and through Immigration.

The compassion and kindness shown to us was wonderful. We collected our luggage and went to the British Airways desk where once again we were treated wonderfully. There was availability on the same plane returning to London that night and the officials did everything possible to get us on the flight. They were unable to change our original flight tickets due to the time difference and holiday period but we bought new tickets and got back on the plane where we were upgraded to first class. This was wonderful as it gave us some privacy to spend time with our teenager daughters and also allowed us to get some sleep. Once again we were shown such kindness by the cabin crew, especially Nicky who treated us so well throughout our journey.

I would also like to mention Marshall’s Rent-a-Car whom I contacted and they passed on their sympathies and did not charge us for the rental.

We look forward to returning to Cayman again and it is very heart-warming to know that there is so much goodness and helpfulness at George Town airport when you most need it.
