The 2015 TSCL Youth Flag Football League will have some exciting matches this weekend, as it’s the final week of the regular season.
Teams will fight hard on Saturday at the Cayman International School in Camana Bay for the best playoff seeding spots.
At 11.30 a.m. the matchup between the Dart Dolphins and the Security Centre Packers will be intriguing.
In last week’s games, the Dolphins fell to the Overtime Thunder 33-6 as they struggled to complete passes on offense.
However, the Packers beat the Popeyes Saints 35-12, denying the Saints their first win of the season and allowing them to clinch the No. 1 seed in the senior division.
If the Packers are able to pull off a win this weekend, they will become only the second team in youth flag history to finish the regular season 6-0.
The junior division, starting at 12.45 p.m. will see the battle for second place between the EFG Lions and the Broadhurst Buccaneers, who both have a record of 3-2.
Both teams have improved significantly, with kids learning the sport more each weekend.
Brad Conolly, Buccaneers head coach, said he is happy with the progress his team is making.
“We have a great group of kids of all ages and the main goal is to make it fun for them,” he said. “When we come out with a win, that’s just a bonus.”
The Lions and the Buccaneers are coming off smashing wins from last week’s matchups, with the Lions defeating the Raiders 28-6 and Buccs crushing the Gators 22-6.
The Burger King Gators, with Isaiah Whittaker at quarterback, face off against the Maples Raiders who are still searching for their first win of the season.
In the middle division that starts at 2 p.m., the UBS Eagles take on the SRS Steelers, who are the No. 1 seeds.
The Steelers are bursting with confidence after last week’s 13-7 win over the Conyers Cyclones.
However, the Eagles are in the same mood as they bombed the Cayman Water Blue Bombers 32-0.
There’s a matchup between the Cyclones and the Blue Bombers – who will again rely on the speed of Micah O’Garro – who are both looking to come back from losses.
