Four convicted of CNB robbery

Four men were convicted Friday afternoon of the robbery of more than half-a-million dollars from Cayman National Bank in June 2012.

David Tamasa, Rennie Cole, George Mignott and Andre Burton were all found guilty, for the second time, of being involved in the daylight raid on the Buckingham Square branch of the bank.

The jury of four men and eight women took just over seven hours to return guilty verdicts on all four men. The original convictions of the four were quashed in the Court of Appeal due to a technical irregularity concerning the directions the judge gave to the jury.

After a six-week retrial, the four men were once again found guilty of robbery and possession of a firearm. They will be sentenced on Wednesday next week.

  1. GOOD! Lock them up for many, many years! We don’t need scum like these four thieves tainting our islands with their crimes. Let this be a lesson to all those criminals with same thought in mind. Justice is Divine!
