A Caymanian man was arrested Monday at Owen Roberts International Airport on suspicion of cocaine possession, according to officials with Her Majesty’s Customs service in the Cayman Islands.
The man, who is expected to face charges in court Thursday, is suspected of carrying a small amount of cocaine on a flight arriving from Honduras. He had not been formally charged at press time and so could not be identified.
Customs officials told the Cayman Compass the man was carrying the cocaine in a bag that had been placed in his rectum.
Officials suspect the man of being a “drug mule” – someone who is hired to secretly transport illegal narcotics for pay.
