Glow Run return brightens calendar for fun seekers

The popular Glow Run 5K returns on Saturday, June 6, and in keeping with the theme “Light up the Night for a Brighter Future,” participants are encouraged to deck out in sparkling costumes, face paint, luminous accessories and flashing lights.

Last year’s inaugural staging was so well attended that the number of entrants is restricted to 700 this time.

The run will start and end in front of Abacus restaurant at Camana Bay, with a glow after-party where food, drinks and glow items will be on sale.

Prizes from the sponsors will be given to the top two finishers for the male, female and children’s categories, as well as for the best costumes.

A corporate prize category has also been added for the company that displays team spirit in the most creative way. All ages and fitness levels are encouraged to show up and get glowed up to run or walk.

Each participant will receive a runner’s pack with goodies from the sponsors. Adult entry is $35; children, $25.

The race starts at 7 p.m. Participants are encouraged to arrive for registration at 6 p.m. to take advantage of free neon face painting.

Ahead of the event, glow items will be on sale at the National Trust merchandise store in the Dart Family Park.

Participants have the option to get a splash of biodegradable and nontoxic UV reactive paint and powder along the route for an extreme glow as they approach KPMG “Glo Hard or Go Home” stations.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the National Trust for the Cayman Islands and YMCA of the Cayman Islands. The 5K is organized by the National Trust; KPMG is the main sponsor.
