South Sound Stride set for Saturday

The South Sound Stride 5K run/walk is on this Saturday at 7 a.m. Co-organized by Tim Eastman of the First Baptist Christian School and Janet Durksen, the event starts and finishes at the school on Old Crewe Road in a loop course, with the turning point near the rugby club.

This is the third year the event has been staged and the second time Race Caribbean has timed it using its electronic chip timing system.

There are prizes for all age groups and also a toddlers race at 8 a.m., an hour after the big race is staged.

Teenager Dominic Dyer won last year in 17 minutes, 19 seconds, quite easily ahead of Jason Saunders and Tobias Muchene.

Participants will receive a T-shirt, race bag, raffle ticket for a random prize and ticket to the pancake breakfast. Entry fees range from $10 for children to $25 for adults.
