Olympic Day run is free

The Cayman Islands Olympic Committee hosts its annual Olympic Day 2015 celebrations later this month. The Olympic Day 5K run/walk is at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex on June 27 at 7 a.m.

It is a favorite for runners, joggers and walkers because it is a fun family-oriented event open to people of all ages and abilities.

The event is completely free and participants will receive refreshments, goodie bag, an Olympic Day T-shirt and will automatically be entered into a raffle for some amazing random prizes.

Cayman Islands National Sport Federations will also be hosting their own Olympic Day events from June 20-28. Each federation will have a mini tournament/exhibition of their sport which will provide great entertainment for spectators and opportunities for people of all ages to get involved in a new sport.

Olympic Day was introduced in 1948 to commemorate the birth of the modern Olympic Games on 23 June 1894 at the Sorbonne in Paris.
