The two fastest riders in the Cayman Islands at the moment teamed up to enter a time trial on Sunday and not surprisingly, they won comfortably.
Mitch Smith and Pedro Lopez Ramos won the 15-mile 2-Man Team Time Trial, a loop that started at the Bodden Town Police Station and turned around at High Rock Road.
The winning pair finished in 35 minutes 45.01 seconds. Rachel Gooden and David Cooke teamed up to take second place in 38:25.95, and third were Nolan Stewart and Rhys Ebanks in 44:23.43.
In the overall points standings, Cooke, who competes in the masters category, is first with 84 points; junior Josh Weaver (81) is second; Smith (79) third; and Gooden (78) is fourth.
The next event is a 48-mile road race from Hurley’s, through East End, Queen’s Highway, Frank Sound Road and back to Hurley’s on Aug. 9, starting at 7 a.m.
Then it’s a 10-mile individual time trial from Paradise Restaurant on the waterfront to South Sound and back to the restaurant on Sept. 6, also starting at 7 a.m.
