Honduran fishing boat seized by customs

A 50-foot fishing boat with seven people on board was seized and the passengers arrested by Her Majesty’s Customs service last week.

Customs Collector Charles Clifford said the boat contained illegal drugs and “under-declared” alcohol that was found after the craft was called into George Town port and inspected. He said customs officers “became suspicious” and initiated a full search of the vessel, uncovering contraband.

One of the seven people was released on bail while the six others remained in custody. All seven, six men and one woman, are from Honduras.
