Police investigate attempted rape in Bodden Town

A woman walking home from work Thursday night was attacked in Bodden Town by two men who attempted to rape her, police report.

Police said the attack happened around 9.45pm in the vicinity of Monument Road.

“The female victim was walking home from work when she was attacked by two males who dragged her from the road into some nearby bushes and attempted to sexually assault her,” police said in a statement. “Putting up strong resistance she was able to escape from her assailants and run to a nearby house where she raised the alarm and got help.”

The descriptions of the attackers were “limited at present,” police said, but the woman told officers one was taller than the other and that both spoke with Caymanian accents.

Detective Chief Inspector Malcom Kay said, “This incident is extremely violent in its nature and as such very alarming. I wish to appeal to anyone who was in the area and may have seen anything unusual around that time. I would also like to remind people to remain vigilant when out at night and take extra care when walking home.”

Anyone with information is asked to call any police station or Crime Stoppers on 800 TIPS (8477).

  1. The people that continue to prevent residents from having the ability to appropriately protect themselves from these violent criminals are, in my opinion, just as responsible for what happened to this woman as is anyone else that might be arrested and charged with this crime.
