The much-anticipated keynote speaker of this weekend’s Business and Professional Women’s Club international conference, Sir Patrick Stewart, has had to bow out of the event due to medical reasons.
Mr. Stewart had to reschedule his trip, and will instead be the guest speaker at the club’s 40th anniversary celebrations which will take place in 2016, according to BPW president Andrea Williams. The date will be confirmed once the club knows Mr. Stewart’s schedule, she said.
Mr. Stewart was scheduled to speak at the conference’s gala dinner. He was invited to be the speaker because of his commitment to advocating for gender equality and against domestic violence.
The schedule of this weekend’s conference was modified slightly, and the BPW International 85th Anniversary Gala Dinner will now be held on Saturday evening. The gala is not open to the public as it is for BPW delegates attending the conference. However, the public is still invited to attend the “leaders’ symposium” portion of the event, which will be held on Sunday, Nov. 8, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Westin Resort & Spa.
Local and international speakers will focus on topics including women’s empowerment principles, emotional intelligence, economic empowerment for women and women’s health, organizers said.
There is $100 registration fee to attend, which includes lunch. To register or for more information about the event contact [email protected]
