Royal Cayman Islands Police Service officers are investigating the death of a female whose body was found overnight in an area along Grand Cayman’s Seven Mile Beach.
Police confirmed Sunday that the dead woman, 38 was a local resident of the Cayman Islands.
Police notified the public about the incident via an emailed statement sent at 2:21 a.m. Sunday: “Police and emergency services are currently at Tiki Beach where a female was found deceased,” according to RCIPS Chief Inspector Harlan Powery.
A further statement released Sunday afternoon indicated police had not determined what caused the woman’s death.
Police said officers received a request for help from the woman’s family late Saturday, stating they had not been able to locate her and were growing concerned for her welfare.
The woman was later located in the vicinity of Tiki Beach. She was not responsive despite efforts to revive her with CPR and was later pronounced dead at the Cayman Islands Hospital.
