Courthouse flagpole fixed

It took a four-stage scaffolding and an adapted hookstick to get the job done, but Colby Powery and Jaime Ramos from the Public Works Department had Cayman’s official flag flying properly outside the Law Courts Building on Wednesday.

Mr. Ramos explained that a snaphook had become entangled in the halyard at the top of the pole, which prevented the flag from being raised and lowered. The task was made more challenging by 17 mph winds, he acknowledged.

Employed by the Public Works Department for more than seven years, Mr. Ramos had the benefit of Mr. Powery’s 40-plus years’ experience as they set up the scaffolding and then dismantled it after fixing the problem.
