Cuban migrants land on Cayman Brac

Several Cuban migrants are being held in the Immigration Reception Centre after arriving in Cayman Brac Monday.

The Cuban migrants, 22 men and one woman, opted to leave their boat and stay in Cayman until arrangements are made to send them back to Cuba, according to Deputy Chief Immigration Officer Gary Wong.

“I was told that the vessel appeared to be unseaworthy,” Mr. Wong said. “It was my understanding that the engine had conked out on them so they were unable to go any further.”
