Woman remanded for ganja and bullets

A woman charged with possession of ganja with intent to supply and four rounds of ammunition without a firearms license appeared in Summary Court Monday.

Kimesha Tameka Walters, 29, is accused of having the items at a George Town address on Feb. 18.

Defense attorney Prathna Bodden said she was not making an application for bail because she had not been provided with the papers in the case. Crown counsel Scott Wainwright confirmed that a forensic examination of the bullets had not yet been received and he was also waiting for a certificate of analysis for the ganja so he could advise the court on the weight of the drug.

Magistrate Valdis Foldats asked if anyone had an estimate. Mr. Wainwright offered to show him photos of what he said were 57 parcels of ganja; he held up his fingers to indicate an approximate size.

Officers also recovered $1,500 in cash, he noted.

Ms. Bodden asked for the matter to be mentioned again on March 8. It was agreed that she could ask for the case to be brought sooner if test results were available. The defendant was remanded in custody until then.
