UPDATE: Man dies after car strikes CUC pole in East End

A 30-year-old East End man died after the car he was driving struck a CUC pole near East End Blow Holes late Friday night.

According to a police statement, the police and other emergency services responded to the one-vehicle accident at around 11:30 p.m. “The accident occurred when the Toyota motorcar left the road and collided with a CUC pole. On arrival the unaccompanied driver was unresponsive and had to be removed by the Fire Department.”

The man was taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital in George Town but died as a result of the injuries he had sustained.

Police say the road was blocked for several hours to allow for scene preservation and investigation. Officers reopened the road before 10 a.m. Saturday.
