UPDATED: Pedestrian struck and killed by dump truck in East End

Police are investigating after a female pedestrian was struck and killed by a dump truck at her residence in East End on April 19.

At 5:03 p.m.,* police and other emergency services responded to a report of a single-vehicle accident involving the female pedestrian near the intersection of John McLean Drive and Quantum Drive, according to a press release from the RCIPS.

Police later said that the incident occurred after a delivery had been made to the victim’s home by a Sterling dump truck.

The victim, identified by police as 66-year-old Esther Scott of East End, appears to have been struck by the truck as it was leaving her residence. She was transported to the George Town Hospital by ambulance, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the vehicle, a 43-year-old North Side man, was arrested by the police on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, according to the RCIPS. He is now out on police bail.
