May marks Child Month celebrations

A series of events and family activities are lined up in celebration of Cayman’s 20th annual Child Month in May. Under the theme “Shaping Our Future,” the Department of Children and Family Services has once again partnered with government and community organizations to facilitate family events throughout the month while raising awareness of and focus in making the community a better place for children. This year’s annual observance of Child Month will kick off with a live radio broadcast of the Church of God Universal’s opening service, on May 1 at 11 a.m.

Minister for Community Affairs Osbourne Bodden said, “It is important that we as a community come together to participate in these events, but also to assist each other in teaching and protecting our children.

The theme, “Shaping Our Future,” indicates how each of us and the community at large can contribute to ensuring a successful future for our children.”

This year’s Child Month events include presentations on child protection and other activities taking place on all three islands.
