5K to raise money for vocational scholarship

The first Fred Speirs 5K Walk/Run will be held at 6:30 a.m. Saturday at the Holiday Inn to raise money for the Fred Speirs Vocational Grant.

Rotaract Blue of the Cayman Islands awards the grant to a local student to pursue technical/vocational studies as part of its Professional Development service. The grant provides young professionals of the Cayman Islands with the opportunity to further their studies at home or abroad.

The grant is a scholarship for students between the ages of 16 and 30 who wish to pursue or are currently pursuing a technical or vocational program locally or overseas.

The deadline to apply for the grant is May 27, and application information is available on http://rotaractblue.org/Stories/fred-speirs-vocational-grant-nominations-now-open.

Entry fee for the 5K is $10. All funds go to the scholarship.
