David Whittaker of North Side spent many years at sea traveling the globe. On his return to Cayman, he worked at the Grand Old House as a maintenance engineer. If it broke, he could fix it. In the old days before house numbers, particular objects would serve as an address or location, for example “the house with the green fence, that’s where Mr. Bodden lives,” or “the pink house with the two mango trees, that’s where the Scotts live.” Mr. Whittaker lived in the house along the sea with the huge satellite dish. Here, he is shown with his granddaughter Patrina around 1987. He passed away in 1993.
