Linda Whittaker was considered the best land crab chef in North Side.
She’d catch them, pick them and season them to perfection. The majority of the prepared crab was sold to the Apollo Eleven Club, which is known nowadays as Over the Edge restaurant and bar. At the end of a long day of crabbing, Ms. Whittaker could often be found resting with a cool one in her hand, ready to offer a hefty dose of marl road news. This image was shot around the late ‘70s. Ms. Whittaker passed away in 1984.
