The Pirates Week Festival is looking for pirates of the four-legged variety to take part in this year’s Pirate Pooch Parade.

The annual fundraiser benefits the Cayman Islands Humane Society.

The parade, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 19, is part of the Pirates Week festivities and will see costumed dogs, pups and their owners march down Harbour Drive in George Town between 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

Organizers say pet costumes can be bought at the Pirates Week Souvenir shop behind the National Museum on Shedden Road.

“Pet parents and their pooches will be entered to win a round trip ticket on Cayman Airways in the Pooch Parade Facebook Photo Contest,” organizers said in a press release.

To enter the contest, people can “Like” the Cayman Islands Pirates Week Festival Facebook Page and vote for their favorite pooch. The image with the most likes wins. Voting begins Monday, Nov. 21, and closes Wednesday, Nov. 30. The winner will be notified on Thursday, Dec. 1.

Registration for the Pirate Pooch Parade can be done online at or at 8:30 a.m. on event day. A T-shirt is included (first 50 registrants) in the $25 registration fee.

Pirates Week kicks off this weekend on Little Cayman, continues on Grand Cayman from Nov. 10-20 and on Cayman Brac on Nov. 25-27.
