Shhh … a Silent Party you say? Although those two words don’t seem to go together and a party without noise sounds like a very strange concept, Silent Parties have become wildly popular almost overnight in Cayman.

Rather than using a speaker system, music is broadcast via a radio transmitter with the signal being picked up by wireless headphone receivers worn by the revelers. Those without the headphones hear no music, giving the effect of a room full of people dancing to nothing. The setup allows three different DJs to be playing at the same time broadcasting to three different channels.

Party-goers can switch between channels to listen to their favorite DJs and can see what channel other people are tuned in to by the color on their headset.

Holiday Silence

Holiday Silence on Sunday (well, technically holiday Monday) is the next Silent Party on the schedule. It is being hosted by Epic Day Entertainment and the Strand Entertainment Complex at Lillies and The Warehouse. Doors open at midnight and the party rocks until 4 a.m. Featuring four DJs, three channels will be consistently played all night running the gamut from house music to Top 40, soca and old school hip hop. A $20 ticket price covers your entry plus the rental of the headphones for the night.

Ironshore Music Group

Quiet Sessions (part of the Ironshore Music Group), will be providing the headphones for the evening. Ironshore Music Group (IMG) was the first local company to initiate Silent Parties in Grand Cayman earlier on in the year and is pleased with the way these unique nights have taken off here. Ky-mani Davies of IMG said, “We intend to continue in our creativeness to provide top notch events for the Cayman people and are truly humbled at the support we have received thus far.”

The DJs that will be featured at Holiday Silence on Sunday include three of Cayman’s most popular DJs – RKM, Glenroy and Lizzie Curious – as well as a returning favorite, Billy Corduroy. Lizzie has had a big summer with many U.S. tour dates, and was part of the remix team that garnered a Number One hit on the U.S. Billboard Dance Charts with the classic “Put Em High” by Stonebridge featuring Therese.

“Silent Parties are so much fun,” said DJ Lizzie Curious, “because you can get a whole group of friends together who love totally different genres of music, and the vibe you get at this unique style of party is electric.”

Holiday Silence is being held at Lillie’s and The Warehouse on Sunday, starting at midnight. Entrance fee is $20.
