Charles Russell Speechlys has appointed former Cayman Islands Partner, David Cooney, as an international private client partner to its Zurich office.
Cooney was admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2003, as an attorney-at-law in the Cayman Islands in 2012 and as a solicitor in the British Virgin Islands in 2014. Before joining Charles Russell Speechlys, Cooney was a partner in Ogier’s Cayman Islands office, where he headed the Private Client and Trusts team (Caribbean region).
He is recognized as a leading individual for private client legal advice in the Cayman Islands by Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners, with the latter reporting that “he is probably the best trust lawyer of his generation in the Cayman Islands. He is very commercial, very knowledgeable, very responsive, very thorough and a pleasure to work with.”
