Royal Cayman Islands Police made two burglary arrests in West Bay Wednesday.
In one incident, a 36-year-old man suspected of burgling a home in the Fountain Road area was shot with a Taser weapon after he was confronted by police and “reacted to officers in an aggressive manner,” according to an RCIPS statement.
Police said the man was arrested on suspicion of the Fountain Road burglary, which occurred around 5 p.m., after officers caught up to him on Hell Road later in the evening.
Earlier the same day, another home was broken into on North West Point Road. After receiving information about stolen computer equipment at another residence in West Bay, police responded and arrested a 43-year-old on suspicion of burglary. The computer equipment was recovered.
“These are two good examples of robust policing in apprehending [the] burglary suspects,” RCIPS Detective Superintendent Pete Lansdown said.
