Registration is now open for Camana Bay’s basketball camp, which runs from July 24-28.
This year campers will receive instruction – and inspiration – from Cody Zeller, a 7-foot center for the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets.
The camp, at Camana Bay’s Arts & Recreation Centre, is for athletes ages 7 to 17 who want to enhance their basketball skills by training with basketball coaches from the United States.
Every year at the camp, professional high school and college basketball coaches dedicate their time to train and prepare young basketball enthusiasts through drills and live games.
The camp started in collaboration with the Cayman Islands Basketball Association as well as camp staff and players from the Orlando Magic and quickly expanded, offering Cayman Islands basketball players the opportunity to meet with professional players from the United States, a press release states.
This year, Dart Enterprises has sponsored 25 children to attend both the basketball camp and the Camana Bay Multi-Sport Camp through various local networks, including the Cayman Islands Basketball Association, the Cayman Islands Volleyball Federation, Special Olympics of the Cayman Islands and participants from Big Brothers Big Sisters.
The week-long camp is divided into two sessions: 8:30 a.m. to noon for ages 7 to 12, and 12:30-4 p.m. for ages 12-17. To register for the camp, contact [email protected] or call 640-4000.
