Cable and Wireless tests latest broadband technology

Cable and Wireless Communications, the parent company of telecommunications provider Flow in Cayman, has finished a field trial of LTE-Advanced Pro technology, the next generation of wireless broadband technology that will provide customers with a faster mobile internet experience.

The telecom provider conducted the field trials in Antigua and Barbuda, which will also be the first country in the Caribbean region with the most advanced network, capable of delivering peak download speeds of 800 Mbps. The latest LTE evolution will deliver lower latency, more capacity and improved reliability for customers, the company said.

In the trial’s next phase in early October, C&W expects to test a 5G prototype network designed to deliver wireless data connections above 2 Gbps..
