Bodden Town Primary raises funds for Cancer Society

Bodden Town Primary head boy Juan Leon-Castro, head girl Mikayla O’Connor and principal June Elliott present a donation to the Cancer Society’s Victoria Anderson-Gray.

Bodden Town Primary School students have raised $350 for the Cayman Islands Cancer Society.

During an assembly at the school Wednesday morning, head boy Juan Leon-Castro and head girl Mikayla O’Connor presented Victoria Anderson-Gray, the Cancer Society’s educational programs and volunteer coordinator, with the money collected from various school fundraisers.

“This cause is important for all the people who have cancer,” said Juan, as he and Mikayla handed over the donation. She said they were thankful they were able to assist the sick, and the money would go to help these people.

Ms. Anderson-Gray told the students that the money they had raised would go toward helping a person with cancer meet some of the expenses involved with accessing treatment, often off island, and could pay for a plane ticket, a hotel or medication.
