Wanted West Bay man turns himself in

Dorlin Ebanks

A man who ran from police officers after they alleged he was spotted carrying a packet of illegal drugs under his arm turned himself in to police Thursday.

Dorlin Allen Ebanks, also known as Allan Barnett, arrived at West Bay Police Station around 9 p.m. Thursday.

Mr. Ebanks was arrested on suspicion of possessing cocaine and other drug-related offenses. He also faces additional allegations of escaping lawful custody, damage to property, threats to kill and carrying an offensive weapon, but had not been charged with any of those crimes at press time Sunday.

Police said earlier in the week that the suspect was spotted “acting suspiciously” along Watercourse Road Tuesday morning and became “extremely aggressive” when officers approached him.

According to a police account of the incident: “Officers attempted to subdue [the suspect] and recovered a package of cocaine from his person before he brandished a knife and made aggressive motions towards the officers while threatening them.

The man then ran in the direction of Duxies Lane and managed to escape into nearby bushes.”
