National Trust Glow Run

The National Trust for the Cayman Islands’ Glow Run 5K is back! On March 30, runners, walkers and those pushing strollers are all welcome to join the Trust for a bright and breezy journey through the streets of George Town.

The route will loop through the capital, traversing south from Harbour Drive through Denham Thompson Way and Walkers Road, returning to Harbour Drive. Pre-event activities and entertainment will begin at 5:30 p.m., with the race officially beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The Glow Run’s theme is ‘Light up the night for a brighter future’ and it is the official launch pad for the National Trust’s Earth Month festivities. These are focussed around preserving Cayman’s unique environment and the conservation of natural habitats, their flora and fauna.

Runners are encouraged to deck out in sparkling costumes, luminous accessories and flashing lights. Each participant will receive two neon-colored UV-reflective face and body paint tubes in their swag bags, along with other sponsored gear.

Returning highlights of the Glow Run 5K include live entertainment, on-site face and body painting by Paradise Pixies and prizes for the best corporate team spirit and the craziest costume.

Proceeds from this community event will benefit the National Trust for the Cayman Islands and interested participants may register online at

The Glow Run starts and ends in George Town.

The National Trust has been ‘Protecting the future of Cayman’s heritage’ since its inception in 1987. The Trust is a not-for-profit non-governmental organisation created to preserve the history and biodiversity of the Cayman Islands. Through education and conservation, it works to protect environmentally sensitive and historically significant sites across all three Cayman Islands.

While the work of the Trust is largely coordinated by core staff, much of the interesting and interactive work in the field is actually done by volunteers. Trust Volunteers are a group of dedicated and caring individuals with varying skills, talents, time and resources who together achieve great things for heritage preservation. Simply contact any staff member if you wish to get involved.

Adult Trust member registrations for the Glow Run are $25, non-members are $35, corporate teams of 10 or more participants are $25 per runner, and children 5 to 12 years old are $10. To learn more about sponsorship opportunities and to volunteer, contact [email protected] or call 749-1121.
