The Cayman Islands Golf Association is sending a team to compete in the 2019 Caribbean Amateur Junior Championship at Albany, Bahamas from 23-26 July.

Aaron Jarvis and Tom Dickens are competing in the U-18 Boys age group, Justin Hastings Andy Hastings and Todd Purton in the U‑15 Boys, Sam Mclean in the U‑13 Boys, and Holly Mclean and Lauren Needham U‑15 Girls division.

Team Captain Aaron won the U‑15 Boys category last year in Jamaica, as well as the U‑13 Boys group in Barbados in 2016. He is a strong contender to win the Boys U‑18 category this year.

Holly topped the U‑13 Girls category last year, and is looking forward to the challenge of moving up to the U‑15 Girls division this year, with longer yardage.

“The course is challenging with a lot waste land on the side of the fairways, therefore placing the ball is key.

There are small greens but we have a strong team this year who are up for the challenge,” said Aaron.

This is the 32nd running of the Caribbean Amateur Junior Championships, and golfers from eight countries across the Caribbean will be competing for the title. Puerto Rico are the defending Champions.
