Police take new tack to ease traffic problems

Traffic jams from the eastern districts have been getting worse in recent weeks.

In a bid to alleviate morning commute traffic jams from the eastern districts, police announced that a trial closure of Anton Bodden Drive to westbound traffic will be carried out next week.

Between 6am and 8am on Monday to Friday, 7-11 Oct., traffic travelling westward along Bodden Town Road, towards George Town, will not be permitted to turn onto Anton Bodden Drive during these hours; only local access will be permitted. Eastbound traffic will be unaffected.

Police said the closure will be in effect on a trial basis for one week, after which it will be re-evaluated as needed.

Earlier this week, police announced some temporary traffic flow adjustments in the Prospect area, Linford Pierson Highway and Crewe Road for early morning commuters, but later cancelled those plans.
