NEW: Police seek man wanted in stabbing case

Police are appealing to the public to help them trace a man wanted in connection with a stabbing of a woman in George Town on Tuesday night.

The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service released a photograph of the wanted man, Davian Thompson.

Thompson is suspected of stabbing the woman in the head, causing her grievous bodily harm. The assault happened shortly before 11pm on 1 Oct. in the parking lot of a business on Shedden Road, in the vicinity of Dr. Roy’s Drive.

Police said the woman was known to Thompson. She was transported by private vehicle to the hospital, where she was reportedly in stable condition earlier this week.

Police described Thompson as being of dark complexion, medium built and approximately 5 feet, 9 inches tall.

“The RCIPS would also like to inform the public as well that it is an offence to assist any person to avoid being arrested by the police, knowing that the person has committed an offense, the punishment for which is imprisonment for up to 7 years,” police said in a statement.
