Starting Monday, 11 May, all people entering Health Services Authority facilities will be required to wear a face mask.
This requirement includes patients and staff and will be implemented at Cayman Islands Hospital, Faith Hospital and the district health centres, HSA advised. Masks must be worn in all areas of the facilities, including waiting rooms, elevators, hallways and the cafeteria.
“Most persons in recent weeks entering the HSA have worn facemasks, however we are taking this step to mandate the wearing of masks as an additional measure to protect our patients and our staff,” said HSA CEO Lizzette Yearwood in a written statement.
“Wearing facemasks should be used in conjunction with practicing social distancing, hand hygiene and proper respiratory etiquette.”
Security guards will carry face masks to distribute to patients without them.
